{DIY} Wallpaper Stencils – Paint Techniques

by Heather on July 27, 2010

I want to paint or stencil on a small wall in my bathroom.
I haven’t done any fancy painting or techniques on any walls in my home…
So I could really use some advice/suggestions!!
Those top two photos are from Martha Stewart.
The directions don’t look too hard to follow…
but thay never make it look hard do they?
The bottom two photos also really intrigue me.
They are wallpaper stencils you can purchase from
Has anyone done this before?
What’s easier.. the free hand approach or using
an actual stencil?

Over the years I've done my fair share of wall treatments. I kind of laugh when I think of what I did to my walls back in the late 80's!! All of these treatments are fairly easy (yes really!), but for me getting just the right colors has been the hard part. My own personal preference is to do things that are very subtle. Pick your wall color on a paint strip and then choose an accent color that is one step away from your wall color on the same strip. Can't wait to see what you choose to do – I'm sure it will be GREAT!

Thanks for the advice Cindy! I was also envisioning something subtle. It would stink to do all that work and then not really like the color… I shall have to ponder this a bit longer!
