As I sit here soaking up the Spring rays and listening to the “drip drip” of all that snow melting off the roof… well it sorta has me feeling like a Spring Chicken!
This ‘lil project was inspired by Jeanne D’Arc Living Magazine. Specifically Debra Hall’s home. I put this together for my friend who recently had her first baby! I always think it’s more fun to spoil the mom than the baby. NOTHING against babies. Y’know I love ‘em (5 of my own) But I know us Mommas need and DESERVE every bit of special treatment we can get.
I wanted to give her fresh flowers from the market but ALAS! What is the matter with this place?? Still NO tulips to be found… just dried up ole brown things. Usually I can find SOMETHING (I am NOT a fussy person). Then I figured, ahh heck.. why not put together something she can enjoy for as long (or little) as she’d like??
This was a cinch to make folks. Really really super fun to have the eggs straight from my gal’s bottoms that are already colored. Don’t you LOVE au natural green and blue eggs? My Easter Eggers are not my best layers but totally worth having ‘em for the fun factor!! They are also the shyest chickens in the bunch… tis ok. If I could lay eggs this purty I’d probably want to sit in the corner and try all day!
The brown egg was painted with a thick coat of paint and then bubbled up with a heat gun before it dried. Then you let it dry for a day and then scrape it off with an old knife or other straight edge. (The photo above shows what it looked like before I scraped the bubbles off). A couple sprigs of dried hydrangea, some crinkled antique sheet music, all stuffed in an old compote (is that what that thing is?? I’m pretty sure I TOTALLY made that up.. someone needs to correct me, like BAD).
Ok… I am off now. To deliver said gift and dinner to special Momma and her first born. I’ll leave ya with one last thing cooking up in my kitchen –
