Post Road Vintage Farmhouse

by Heather on March 6, 2012

Hi! How are you? I’ve decided to do a blog series on my home… the origination. The inspiration. The (never ending) projects. A place to welcome new and old friends alike and make ya’ll feel “at home.”

This picture of the front porch pretty much sums it up! Stray tenny hanging out on the steps, bikes NEVER put away, baseball glove just WAITING to be tripped over. Garden unweeded. The best darn part about this picture? I recently found out it is going to be published in an international magazine! (I’ll share the details with you soon!) Too funny for a random shot that I took out of the van window one warm summer evening when we were heading out to the lake.

What does home mean to you?

To me it means a place well lived and loved. Our home is new… Mr. PRV built it for us in 2006 (with moocho help from brothers and friends). Due to it being well lived in by four hyper toddlers, one hyper Momma, and one DIY daddy it definitely has the well loved look already. Wanna put another ding on the floor or the wall? Ahh.. that is just perfect for me! I love houses with a history and a story. Even though our home is new it makes me so happy that it isn’t perfect.. but rather, filled with stories! It probably would have made sense to buy an old home to fix up but we got suckered into 20 acres of woods for boys to play in…

and wild blueberries.

space for a big ole’ unruly garden.

a dirt rode to bump along on.

and room for lots of feathered and furry friends.

It’s been a fun and crazy six years of building our home. And yes I mean we are STILL in the process.

You know me, I NEVER bite off more than I can chew!! hehe…. life would be downright dull otherwise!!

What’s the story behind your home?

Your home is lovely Heather, but I especially love your garden. Those Cosmo’s are so pretty and the Sunflowers are sweet. I bet in years to come you will change your garden plenty of times ‘cuz that’s what we do. A garden is never done. Keep on posting all your good inspiration for we need it to enrich our lives.

:) fun series you have started :) our home is old – we found old newspapers in the walls of one of the rooms we gutted that were dated in the late 1800′s. we are still finishing up some inside projects but have pretty much gutted and redone it all. a couple rooms could still use it – our bedroom and the kitchen – but i just want to finish the stairway and laundry room and then focus on the outside for awhile. siding and a few last windows to be replaced. a new roof and a remodeled porch roof. if i squint i can see what it is SUPPOSED to look like! LOL!

Your house is so cool because it really doesn’t look new. It has that “been here” look that definitely makes it warm and welcoming!! From the photos, it looks like the perfect farm house with garden and all! And a bunch of happy kiddos!!

I’m thrilled for you that it has been picked up for a magazine feature piece! Can’t wait to hear more!
Have a lovely evening!

I need to do a series of posts about my home as well. I wanted an old farm house but none were to be had in the area we live, so we built an new one to look old…kinda like yours! I look forward to seeing more of what your house looks like. Congratulations on being featured in the magazine!! How exciting for you :)
