Happy White Friday!!

by postroad on November 23, 2012

Hi snow birds!!! yuk, yuk… I’m not doing a lick of flying right now and it feels GREAT!!!! We are (for the moment) sans pox and full tummies. Happy, and snuggled in to beat the storm! Naw, I’m not envious of those shoppers in the least……. crashing down the doors at wally world to get the latest xbox or whatever in Sam Hill’s is the rage for the minute.

All but the hubby…… he’s out braving the white stuff trying to get a deer to fill the freezer. So today seemed as good a day as any to get the shop restocked with soap! Especially now that I’m finished with the magazine. Thank you SO much to each of you for taking the time to read and encourage me! Thanks so much to all of you who’ve shown your support through purchasing! I hope it exceeds your expectations in every way!!

I have a new scent! Finnish Sauna Soap! Perfect for a windy, stormy day…….. ah, I’d give just about anything to be on the top bench right now. Throwing steam and warming up my bones. But this hot cup of coffee and bar of soap will have to do for now!

If you’ve never taken a Finnish Sauna you are missing out. (just sayen’) Here’s how it rolls…….. you pack as many people on the top bench as possible. Each person has their own bucket for cooling off, throwing steam, soaking their feet, and washing up. The far ends of the bench are fought after……. cause there is usually a few who like it ‘very hot’ and then there are those who are social sauna goers only. Yes, taking a sauna can be a social event. Cause it’s the best with a room full of ladies. Hooten’ and hollering it up. No need for clothes or swim wear… because once you get to a certain age most are quite short on sight anyways (I’m not an old lady yet but I’ve been wearing specs since 1st grade…… everyone is beautiful in my eyes)

(my mom ‘n dad’s sauna on Lake Superior)

A sauna is best at night because after getting steamed out a dip in the lake is a must. Grab your soap bar and hit the ground running. It’s hard not to give a good holler at the first dunk. Especially in Lake Superior….. so COLD but refreshing!

So there you have it. If you haven’t taken a Finnish Sauna before then those couple of paragraphs pretty much sums it up. My latest soap is so dear to my heart because one little sniff of it invokes those happy summer memories. (No, I’m not die hard enough for sauna and swim during the winter.) It smells woodsy, therapeutic, and invigorating. With cedar, eucalyptus, and some peppermint too. It would be the perfect gift for man OR wife as it’s not nearly as feminine smelling as my lavender soap (which is also back in stock.)

Check the soaps out here.

The sauna sounds lovely…especially after the hectic activity of getting ready for our family Thanksgiving :)
I cannot believe it is snowing in your neck of the woods! Temps were in the high 70s yesterday (AC was on to keep the heat from the oven down) and today it’s cold with north winds…but NO snow!! LOL
Glad to hear things are looking better for your family. Stay well and stay warm!!

Thanks for the good laugh! I read it out loud for the kids so they could enjoy it too. Hi from Cami!

I want to order the Finnish Sauna Soap, but there isn’t an “add to cart” button beside it.

This post brought back memories of when I was a kid! I hadn’t thought of this in years! My mom (totally Finnish! with 9 siblings) used to take us to see all her family in MN every summer, and they would crank up the sauna and all us kids would sit in there after a long afternoon in the lake. It was really loud there too!
And…I have a question about your soaps if you don’t mind, I have been wanting to make big chunky square soap bars, what do you use as a mold for yours?
