I grew up on Laura Ingalls Wilder books. I dreamt about being that girl. Running across the prairie. Digging for frogs and toads. And playing with that “ball thing” after the pigs were butchered. (The ball thing dream was much more recent…. when we sent our own hogs to the butchering house.)
So now I live my Laura Ingall’s dreams vicariously through my own daughter.
Imagine my delight when I got an email from another Pretty Pioneer girl! Could I share a few pictures of her darling handmade dresses? Um, yes!! This is how I love to dress my daughter! Flowy and carefree dresses that are handmade, built to last, and so darn cute!! I dream about dressing myself like this too….. but honestly lately I’m lucky to just get outta the pj’s in the morning!
There is something so fun about watching her little gears turn. She played the part to a tee… busy putting her string of beads together. (I think I do remember Mary and Laura helping baby Carrie make a string of beads!)
Keely from Pioneer Pretty has offered one of my lucky readers one of these sweet dresses too! If you don’t have a young daughter imagine how appreciated this would be by a grand daughter, niece, or friend’s child! The perfect Christmas day dress!! You will get to choose style, color and size! Keely has an amazing message that I want to help her get out into the world! You can read about it here…… I really, REALLY connect with this!

When my two girls were little I loved dressing them up in similar styles. It was dresses all the way. No shorts and tops and jeans were a no no in this part of the world!!!!
Thanks for bringing me down memory lane of the Laura Ingalls days! I read these as a child and loved reading them to all my kids!tmj
The period of time I most enjoyed when my three sons were little was when they all wore overalls. They looked so adorable and were well protected from the rough and tumble excitement of everyday life. I know just the little girl who would love this little dress.
Such adorable dresses! I would love to see one of my little one wearing one. Thanks for sharing.
What a great giveaway! I’d love one of those dresses for Liis.
Oh, simply darling, and, oh, the dress is adorable, too! I had all boys, but always wanted a little girl. Luckily, one son has an almost 1-year-old granddaughter and another has a little girl coming soon.
This little dress is so cute! My youngest daughter wanted to be Laura Ingalls, too. In fact, I had to make her a little pioneer style dress with a bonnet and she would get dressed in her outfit and go do some work in the garden with the hoe. And that lasted only for a short while…when she realized that it was hard work it was no longer fun. LOL
Hi, Heather! I just shared your FB post about the giveaway on my FB page {Janet Anthony}.

I love Laura Ingalls Wilder. I watched all the shows growing up. When I became an adult my sister and I visited all the places that she had lived. I read every book and still own them. This dress is so sweet. My granddaughters are to old now but I would donate this dress to a little girl that may not have a pretty dress for Christmas. Thank you so much for a chance to win.

Absolutely precious! I live just down the road from Mansfield, MO, where Laura Ingalls Wilder lived when she wrote the Little House books. Her home is there, as is the home of her daughter, Rose. There is a festival each year, Wilder Days. Lots of little girls running around in prairie dress, but none as cute as this!!!! Would love to win this for my wee grand one!
