We are in the THROWS of berry season. They are everywhere in the woods this year. The only thing more dangerous than bears in the berry patch, is having tons of pie crusts in the freezer, for me to eat at every whim.
If I didn’t have such an appetite for real, homegrown food, I’ve gotta admit I’d spend a lot less time in the kitchen. But it is so enjoyable with a cup of coffee, pretty evening light, and the aroma of pies coming out of the oven….
Lard, Lard, Lard….. the secret is LARD. My second favorite fat for crust would have to be butter.
Have you been squeezing every last ounce out of summer? It’s winding down here! The small moments like these are just the best amongst the busy-ness! How do you find the time and energy to enjoy life’s small moments? It is something I have been much more intentional about lately! (not perfectly, but trying feebly every day)
