How do you know that fall is near? Here it means starting the ‘summer’ projects that were supposed to be finished LONG ago. It means the smell of freshly cut wood (that was also supposed to begin drying months ago.) It means cool crisp nights with the windows still flung wide open and an ‘in-the-throws-of-puberty’ rooster waking us up with his “cackle-doodle-doos”. Today I am sharing with you one of the ‘summer’ projects. Oh yes, PRV TV coming at you live. Can you smell the two stroke from that chain saw? I can, and I’m LOVING it
Without farthur ado…….. here is how we roll. But first I’ve gotta give kudos to my 5yo for the shooting of this video. I have made SO many excuses when it comes to the making and shooting of videos (not having a shooter was one of ‘em). But when I feel called to do something I have learned to (try to) shove the excuses on the top shelf of the ole’ moth ball filled closet where they belong.
So so straightforward, right? To make this fence you simply need a few old doors. They need not match or even be the same size.
Next screw them to 2×4′s to create a support. Let the side supports hang below the doors a few feet or more. (This stage in the build is a good time to disregard the blank and dismayed stares from the hubby…. “wait, you’re putting that, where??” (Trust me on this, he will get over it…. or at least mine did!)
Measure how far apart your posts are. Mark in the dirt and dig, dig, dig till the cows come home, home, home. You will then need to enlist the help of the strongest person you know. (I know, trying to butter him up a bit here for the next project!)
Plop into place and schedule chiro appointment immediately. hahaha, I am kidding…. but three people to do this job would be awesome!
Now stand back and enjoy your handiwork….. I am so excited about this. Even though she’s far from finished. I’m envisioning a bed or bench, climbing roses, and an outdoor shower on the back side!
(a few shots of the summer garden)
So how about you? Do you have a bunch of ‘summer projects’ to start and finish before the snow flies? I can’t believe how fast time keeps zipping by. The change of seasons always gets me feeling quite romantic, sentimental, and also tends to cause some shifts within……. I’m feeling it big time, are you?
(I tried to get a picture of hubert the pubert, but he would have none of that. His woman is pretty cute too though!)
