Are you a sucker for Valentine’s Day? I’ve gotta admit… I kinda am. Any excuse for  a lil extra romance sounds good to me! Cause let’s face it, with a basketball team and one reserve on the way as you family….. things tend to take a back burner. But why?! Tis the reason they’re here in the first place, right? ;) So dreaming up a lil Valentine’s project I went with the not-so-original sachet. I call it my ‘dream pillow’. When the hubby asked what it’s good for I told him, “to sleep better.” Aw, shucks….. not really what he’s after, I think :)

I won’t bore you with how to build these, as it is really quite elementary. Though I did discover using half fiberfill will make your herbs stretch farther. I filled one with dried lavender, one with rose petals, and one with peppermint. All from the garden. I’m thinking Rosemary would be delicious too. Any other ideas? I’m really hoping to expand the herb garden this year. I love experimenting with making my own teas, beauty products, and cooking is yet another skill of mine that needs massive improvement.

Anyways, I hope I’ve inspired you to make something sweet for your sweets. Or for yourself! My sister and I are finally getting our Handmade Beauty Natural E-Course ready for launch! (Thanks to my lack of energy with pregnancy we had to delay it a bit). But I am SO excited! If you’ve dreamed of creating your own organic beauty products than this course is for you! Sign up here to be the first to know when it’s available!

Sweet snowy dreams to you!

Heather your posts cheer me…I can even smell the roses in the photo, feel their spiky thorns and the soft petals.
We so enjoyed the sauna soap…it felt like something wonderful from far away!

Dreaming is about all we can do at this time of year when it comes to gardening in the U.P. But, before you know it, winter will leave us behind and Springtime will bloom again! Let us enjoy these few months we have before all the busyness of Spring planting begins. Like you, projects that I don’t have time for in the warm months get done during these long, home-bound days of winter. Knitting, baking, painting, and crafts draw me like a magnet! How fun to make my own yarn, with wool from our sheep or discarded t-shirts. Baking homemade breads & cakes & pies using home-ground flours and home-canned apples. Yep, I adore Old Man Winter here in God’s country.
When I absolutely need to get my hands in some dirt, I re-pot a houseplant or buy some fresh flowers from the grocery store. I also adore looking at my garden catalogs when they arrive in the mail. DREAMING is always the first step in gardening!!! Peace, my friend!

Heather, blessings on you and the incubating baby. While we love hearing from you, our lessons in patience are being honed. When you feel like you can spare us a picture or two and a word or three, we will appreciate them as always. But we all want you to be healthy and your family comes first….including the chickens! Tell me who is Heikka Lunta?? I just do not have enough memory left in my old brain to call forth this name–maybe a chicken, maybe a northern Ghost Helper?? I have a dear cousin who married a man with the last name of Lunta so it was a surprize to see it in your blog. Perhaps I missed something in a past post?? Love you and your life philosophy and your photos and your honesty. Hugs to all, Marianne

I love your photography and your view on life. Thanks for documenting life in the UP in MI. Out here in California we’re in the middle of a freak heat wave; temps in the 80′s for a month now and no rain in sight. This is equally weird and bad as we need the water like you wouldn’t believe. I hope you’re staying warm. And congratulations on your upcoming munchkin!
