okay – I’m pretty sure this one is mine. Why? 1. I was searching Etsy for linens last night and ended up in her shop. Imagine my surprise when I bumped into the same shop again via your blog this morning. 2. Our house already has at least six of those exact soda bottles, so it’s like an extension of the same thing (did you follow that?) 3. It’s my birthday this week.

See? Meant. *wink*

As for why I love vintage linen? What’s not to love. I love the feel, the grain, the texture and I love the detail, embroidery and prints. Our beds are also a mix of pillowcases I couldn’t resist from here or there.

… and why I love vintage linen…
I get lost in the beauty of each piece. The time it took to make it. The little story it holds secret. I know – my kids tell me I’m mushy, but I can’t help it! I just love vintage things! ;)

I love vintage linens because they are timeless.
They have stood the test of time and have touched many lives (think of all the stories they could tell!).
Plus, they just dont make linens like they used to! I mean, who really has the time to monogram ALL of their linens today?! Really….I wish :)

Hi! I love all the vintage linens over at Faded Plains, especially the English linen pillow slip!

Reply

Celine December 7, 2011 at 7:16 pm

I love vintage linens because they are usually made of such good quality material that gets softer over time. Also, if it’s vintage from my own family, I like to think of my grandmother, or whoever, using them in her day.

Reply

Sarah December 7, 2011 at 7:55 pm

I love these little aqua english ink bottles from Andrea’s shop! They are just what I need for my kitchen windowsill! I’d put little seasonal flowers in them. :)

Reply

Sarah December 7, 2011 at 7:59 pm

I ADORE vintage linen because it’s like living surrounded by a certain flair and quality that you don’t get today. It’s tasteful and yet simple, and softens things like old wood tables to make them comfortable enough for a home. It can be used for anything! I especially love vintage white or creme linens used as bedding or reupholstering. I can’t get enough of the stuff!

I love most of the Faded Plains things, but my favorite has to be the vintage Euro sham # 1. It truly captured my heart with the details and fine handwork. I would feel like a queen with this lovely sham nestled on my bed.

Reply

Rita O'Dwyer December 9, 2011 at 5:40 am

I love vintage linens for several reasons. First, they are a connection with the past, and especially with the women who created–and enjoyed– their beauty. Second, the quality of vintage linens surpasses most of the linens we–or at least I–would have access today. Third, I love the snowy white fabric, and vintage linens have been softened by repeated washing and loving care over the years.
